On Monday, Nov. 1, I was walking my dogs in Fort Nugent Park near the children’s play area when I saw two teen girls trying to both get on a small dirt bike. When they saw me they got off the bike and laid it down on the side to look at the greenery, talking together about berries of some kind they had found on one of the bushes. A little later as I was approaching the parking lot I saw a car drive up and the two teen girls got in. I did not see if they had put the bike in the back of the car. I loaded my dogs in my car and left also.

Wednesday, Nov. 3, I was walking my dogs and noticed the bike had been dumped down the side of the short drop off, just where the two teen girls had been on Monday. My hope is that if someone is missing an older little dirt bike, they will find it where I left it, standing against the rail of the play area. And if you picked up two teen girls at Fort Nugent Park on the date mentioned above, I hope you have a talk with them regarding taking something that is not theirs with no regard to how another child feels about the loss of that something.

Regardless of the condition of the item taken and then tossed, it may have been cherished and played with by a child whose parents could not afford a shiny new item, and in this case, a shiny new bike.
