I experienced a new phenomenon at home Saturday morning while trying to read the Whidbey News-Times. My wife took my paper away from me and put it in the recycle bin before I had even finished with it.

I had gotten myself into a fit of hysterics reading about the Michael Monson-designated “historically significant hedgerow barrier” at Outlying Field Coupeville.

You have got to be kidding me.

To what depths of rhetoric will these OLF critics sink next?

Although it is entertaining, I’d like to know the extent of the brow-beating poor old Allyson Brooks took from them to get her to change her mind. I surely would not want to have been on the receiving end  of that barrage.

To close, I might add that looking at significant hedgerows in the United Kingdom and Scotland, where most in the world are, via Google Earth is interesting, especially after having just read what hedgerows are and what they do on Wikipedia.

Sadly, when I shifted the view to OLF, nothing significant was there to be seen even after a complete satellite analysis of the perimeter.

Help a fellow out here; what am I missing? Significance? Relevance?
