It seems the previous city administrations arrogance has raised its ugly head again as the Native American tribes have decided to seek restitution in the desecration of their ancestors.

I find it amusing that the current mayor is upset that the Swinomish decided it is in the tribe’s best interest to file a claim, and that he believes what the city was doing would be sufficient and not result in a lawsuit.

Guess the city now knows how the Native Americans felt when the treaties were signed and then duly broken by various government agencies over the years.

Good luck in your defense, Oak Harbor.

At least most of the perpetrators of this fiasco are no longer in office.
