Two good deeds for an island girl

I am a school nurse who came across a student who eventually informed me that he frequently started his day without breakfast. As a mom, this broke my heart; as a nurse, I know the importance of that first meal of the day.

After being turned down by my own church, my children, both working fast food to pay their way through college, took it upon themselves to help by buying several boxes of breakfast bars. Involving their co-workers, including the manager, several decided it was the right thing to do by also donating.

I too recently had some difficulties with my heating system and upon calling the gentleman who happened to install the (monster) boiler he very quickly made himself available and soon I was enjoying the warmth in my home. He refused payment, wanting to be sure the system continued working.

I want to say a great big thank you to McDonald’s and Mike of JD Mechanical. It is folks like you that make me proud to be an island girl. God bless you all!
