A word of caution to elected officials.
The 5 to 4 decision by the court as to the 1 percent maximum property tax annual increase is unconstitutional and does not automatically mean our elected officials can stick it to the taxpayers without some severe consequences.
The voters and taxpayers are in a very foul mood and elected “representatives” should keep this in mind.
Many voters are trying to get by on “Whidbey Island wages,” which leave a lot to be desired. Many are on a fixed or limited income.
Thanks to the greed of the oil magnates, many of which are elected or appointed officials in Washington, D.C., our costs of living have gone up considerably.
There is a limit and for many it’s been reached.
So, elected officials, if you don’t keep these thoughts in mind, you may be looking for other employment.
