One of the Lions Clubs’ focus is preventing blindness and helping people with eye sight problems. The five Lions clubs on Whidbey Island have set up collection boxes at dozens of locations to collect used eye-ware, hearing aids and cell phones.
These items are processed to repair and clean at a central location them for shipped throughout the world. Ever wonder where they go? Here is the latest. July: Ghana (two missions) 900 pairs, Ukraine 400; August, Nicaragua, 500 pairs; September, Nigeria 350, Kenya 350, Tanzania 1,150, Congo 250, King County 610, and Mexico (Las Palmas) 800.
A really big thank you goes out to all the people who donated items.
