Volunteers from the Readniess to Learn Foundation are collecting donations for the “Back to School Project” in order to provide school supplies, clothing vouchers and shoes to eligible families.

“The economy is tight for everyone right now,” event coordinator Vivian Rogers-Decker said. “We expect more kids to need assistance this year, and we are counting on the community to respond as generously as it has in the past so that all children can start the year on a positive note.”

Donations can be sent to the Readiness to Learn Foundation, “Back to School Project” at P.O. Box 346, Langley, WA 98260. To designate money for a specific community, write the name in the memo line of the check. Communities are Coupeville, Oak Harbor, South Whidbey and Stanwood-Camano.

Collection bins can also be found in participating churches and retails stores.
