Forty talented artists bring their work to Freeland Hall on Dec. 3, 4, and 5, in support of Friends of Freeland. For seven years, the Friends of Freeland have been preserving wetlands and wildlife, creating beautiful planter boxes for Main Street, providing safe walkways and bicycle trails and working with citizens toward positive solutions that enhance the growing town.

Proceeds from their Whidbey Island Arts & Crafts Sale supports all these activities, but most of all it’s an opportunity to find a wide variety of beautiful hand crafted gifts made by Whidbey Island Artists at great prices. It’s described in a news release as “a wonderful chance to find something special, meet artists and friends, and enjoy locally baked delicious treats and coffee while you shop in a beautiful setting at historic Freeland Hall overlooking Holmes Harbor.”

Featured are most talented artists from past years, along with many new young artists bringing exciting fresh ideas in jewelry, glass, garden art, paintings, prints, woven textiles, Native American instruments, body-care products, hand made books and journals, ceramics, wreaths and books by local authors.

The event is easy to find. Just take Highway 525 from the north or south to Freeland. Turn north on Freeland Avenue (between Island Athletic Club and Windermere Realty) and drive to the end of the street. Plenty of parking is available, and the show is free. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5.
