Greenbank Garden Club’s spring plant sale is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.
The event will be in the Greenbank Farm barn, 765 Wonn Rd. This sale is very popular as there are hundreds of plants, shrubs and bulbs donated by the many members of the club and some commercial nurseries as well. This is a major fundraising project for the club, which was founded in 1947. Due to many collective years of gardening experience, the sale is well-organized and the vast collection of plants is labeled clearly.
Members can give excellent gardening advice to buyers as well. You’ll find affordable prices for plants which have been successfully grown in this climate such as perennials, grasses, bulbs, herbs, shrubs, shade plants, ground covers, house plants and sometimes even trees.
Additionally, homemade baked goods will be available for purchase to take home or enjoy during the event. There will also be a flea market with garden-related items and raffled items.
Proceeds from the sale are used to enhance gardens which the club designs and tends around the Greenbank Farm entrance, the Greenbank Clubhouse, and in the Secret Garden at Meerkerk Gardens.
The beneficiaries of the Greenbank Garden Club’s garden-related charitable funds in the last year were the Master Gardeners’ Demo Garden at the Greenbank Farm, the garden at the M Bar C Ranch, the WINproject, the Boys and Girls Club, holiday foliage arrangements for CADA and Botany Adventure at Meerkerk Garden.
