Tickets are on sale now for the International Dinner to kick off Skagit Valley College’s GlobalFest Thursday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
The keynote speaker will be humanitarian and author Lisa Shannon.
Shannon authored “A Thousand Sisters: My Journey of Hope into the Worst Place on Earth To Be A Woman,” after she was awakened to the atrocities in the Congo: women gang-raped and demoralized and millions dead from the deadliest war since World War II.
Shannon was named one of Oprah’s 100 Most Influential Women in 2010.
The International Dinner will take place in McIntyre Hall at the Mount Vernon Campus. Guests will be served dishes from around the world and interact with international students.
Tickets for the International Dinner and Shannon’s keynote address are available through the McIntyre Hall Box Office, 360-416-7727 extension 2 or 866-624-6897 extension 2, or at www.mcintyrehall.org. Tickets to the dinner cost $35 and the address, at 7:30 p.m., cost $25.
