BRYCE M. CRONIN completed 14 weeks of United States Army infantry training at Fort Benning, Ga. with Charlie Co., 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regement. He graduated Feb. 4. Cronin is currently stationed with the 2nd Infantry 3rd Stryker Bergade. He graduated from Coupeville High School in 2009 and is the son of Larry and Linda Cronin of Oak Harbor.
Army Sgt. COLIN L. WALLACE has been named Noncommissioned Officer of the Month.
Selection was based on the individual’s exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, teamwork, significant self-improvement, personal achievements, notable accomplishments, and community service and support.
Wallace, a licensed practical nurse with seven years of military service, is regularly assigned to Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. She is the daughter of Hope L. Rollis of 32nd St., Bellingham, and Timothy D. Ross of E. Sleeper Road, Oak Harbor. The sergeant is a 2002 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Army National Guard Pvt. MARIE A. HESSELGRAVE has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).
During basic military training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons qualification, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army doctrine, history, principles and traditions.
During AIT, the soldier completed the military police specialist course to acquire skills to provide combat area support, conduct battlefield circulation control, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee operations, and law and order operations.
Hesselgrave is the daughter of Mark W. Hesselgrave of Libbey Road, Coupeville, and Laura A. Thompson of W. Allyson St., Oak Harbor. The private is a 2010 graduate of Coupeville High School.
Air Force Airman LOUIS R. KELLEY graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Patrick Kelley of N. Shawn Ave., Oak Harbor, and brother of Patrick Kelley of N.W. Golden Hills Drive, Pullman. Kelley graduated in 2006 from Coupeville High School.
