Island County businesses invited to join Farm Food Trail

Whidbey Island Grown Cooperative announced a new addition to Eat Local Month — the Farm Food Trail.

Whidbey Island Grown Cooperative recently announced its newest addition to Eat Local Month — the Farm & Food Trail.

Whidbey Island Grown is now accepting sign-ups for businesses and organizations to participate in this food- and farm-themed map and directory.

The Farm & Food Trail aims to increase traffic and visibility for farm and food businesses during the peak harvest season of September, according to a press release.

The trail will feature a map allowing visitors to explore the four distinct regions of Island County: North, Central and South Whidbey and Camano Island. Each region will include a full directory of local food stops and thoughtfully curated day-long itineraries, making it easy for both off-island visitors and locals to plan their farm and food-filled adventures.

Visitor-facing businesses such as farmers markets, farm stands, restaurants, cafes, pubs, tasting rooms, food trucks, retail stores, lodging, activity providers, tour operators, event organizers and more are encouraged to participate. And any business handling local food – whether that’s growing it, cooking with it, or reselling it.

Whidbey Island Grown is a multi-stakeholder cooperative comprised of farmers, producers, businesses and community members. It is dedicated to “fostering a robust and resilient local economy that stands strong through good times and bad.”

Registration deadlines are July 15 to be included in curated itineraries, or Aug. 15 to be included in the events calendar and marketing promotions. For more information and to sign up, visit whidbeyislandgrown.com/farm-and-food-trail.
