- LANGLEY WHALE CENTER joins the First Saturday Art Walk, noon-6 p.m. on June 1 as part of Orca Action Month. Meet artists Bonnie Gretz, Lisa Allison Blohm, Judith Burns, Molley Emery and Terrie Horccocks, who will have art, jewelry, prints, cards and gift items on display. Also featured are silk prayer flags by Diane Rheardon, stain glass by Sandy Dubpernel, wooden hand mirrors and cutting boards by Ken Price, ceramics by Roxallane Medley and jewelry by Sue Coccia and others. Many items are also on sale inside the center’s gift store at 105 Anthes Ave., Langley.
- ARTWORKS GALLERY features glass artist Morgan Bell and Loren Iwerks art, “Ink, Pen and Brush” during June.
- RAVEN ROCKS GALLERY presents “Hand Spun Stories: Yarns, Tapestries and Tradition” through June. Tapestry wall hangings by DM Windwalker Taibi will be featured, created in a wide range of natural and hand-dyed sheep’s wools. Located at Greenbank Farm.
- The exhibit “Wood, Warp ‘n’ Weft” continues through June at UUCWI ART GALLERY north of Freeland. Local artists Lianna Gilman and Gerard Del Monte are featured celebrating the interplay of magic and craft. The gallery is in the UUCWI building, 20103 Highway 525, Freeland.
- GARRY OAK GALLERY presents Sam Griffithduring June. Griffith practices the art of Intarsia under “Samsintarsia,” a micro-business engaged in crafting and selling intricate and beautiful “Intarsia” wood art pieces. - “Art with a Message,” the annual Goosefoot High School Art Show at BAYVIEW CASH STORE HUB GALLERY continues through Sunday, June 9. A wide variety of self-expression — depression, joy, self-doubt — is depicted by students from South Whidbey, Coupeville and Oak Harbor high schools. Located at 5603 Bayview Road, Langley.
- At the BAYVIEW CORNER’S FRONT ROOM GALLERY during June is the Shutter Sisters photo exhibit, “The Crea-tive Journey: Engaging the Natural World.”
- WHIDBEY ART TRAIL officially kicked off its ninth season of self-guided studio tours on June 1. The Art Trail includes 17 individual artists’ studios, galleries, artisan retail and an art school.
