Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with the installation of officers for the 2011-2012 club year.
The theme for the evening was “You’ve Gotta Have Heart,” focusing on the club’s “Heart of a Woman” project which provides heart health screenings to women in need.
Leading the local service organization for the next 12 months will be President Marta Page, President-Elect Michelle McKenna, Vice President Nora Daniel, Recording Secretary Paige Bates, Corresponding Secretary Cathy George, Treasurer Becky King, Director Shelley Hoffmann, Director Barry Lynn Wenaas and Past President Sarah Konopik.
Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor is a volunteer organization for business and professional women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. Founded in 1981, the Oak Harbor club is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas where over 100,000 Soroptimists in more than 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based projects that benefit women.
In addition to participating in the Women’s Opportunity Awards program, Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor provides mammograms and heart health exams to local women in need, supports programs to raise awareness surrounding and the prevention of violence in all forms against women and girls and promotes efforts to enhance educational and leadership opportunities for women and girls.
