Offerings expand at Greenbank Farm’s Loganberry Festival

The 22nd annual Loganberry Festival at the Greenbank Farm will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and July 24. Admission is free and parking is $3, which goes toward the Greenbank Farm’s expenses. This year’s greatly expanded festival is themed, “Back to the Farm,” with more than 100 booths and exhibitors reflecting the farm’s role as a center for sustainable agriculture, recreation, environmental education, small-scale economic development and its continued emphasis supporting local artists and artisans.

New this year are 4-H exhibits with chicks, goats, cows and horses, booths with farm produce and plants, more local artisan foods, as well as tours of the farm’s agricultural training center gardens and the new solar power station.

The Island Model A Club will showcase a number of antique cars on Sunday. Longtime favorite activities such as hay rides and pie eating contests and delicious on-site festival food will be back.

A fresh emphasis this year on high quality and local talent has attracted an exciting abundance of vendors offering useful handcrafted items and food producers offering jams, jellies, sauces, nuts and candies. Also feature artists in action.

All weekend the air will be filled with the music of Whidbey’s favorite musicians and groups such as the award-winning barber shop group Cheers, tropical jazz, Bahia, Whidbey’s ambassadors of sea shanties and mirth, the Shifty Sailors, and more.

There will be wine tasting, plenty of children’s activities, and of course Whidbey Pies Cafe, Greenbank Cheese and the three galleries at the farm will be celebrating with special treats and new exhibits.
