Religious WITS meet in Coupeville
Whidbey Island Theological Studies will offer its next public seminar, “Varieties of Christian Experience,” Saturday, Sept. 17 from 8:45 a.m. to noon at the Coupeville Recreation Hall on the corner of NW Coveland and N. Alexander streets, Coupeville.
There is no charge and light refreshments will be served. The instructor will be Dr. Tom Johnson, former president, dean and professor of religious studies at George Fox University, and author of the Johannine Epistles in the New International Biblical Commentary series.

Freeland church offers kids’ programs
All children ages 4 to 8 are welcome to join the Montessori-based Godly Play program beginning Sunday, Sept. 18, at St. Augustine’s-in-the-Woods off Honyemoon Bay Road near Freeland.
Understanding that children guide their own formation, the program seeks to instill in young people a love for the stories of the faith. Children ages 9 and up are welcome to join Tween Time, project-based learning to explore Christian life; or J2A which seeks to honor the transition from childhood into adulthood within the context of the Christian community. Choir connects music, worship
The choir from the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship will give a musical sermon Sunday, Sept. 18, in which they explore various points of connection that music has in worship. Colorado preacher talks about Jesus
Oak Harbor Church of Christ, 1000 NE Koetje Street, invites the public to join them Oct. 2 to 5. Patrick Mead will be speaking on “Let’s Talk about Jesus.” Mead serves as the Senior Minister for the Eastside Church of Christ in Colorado Springs, Colo. How to SAIL along in life
Whidbey Presbyterian Church is offering classes which will help to keep bodies safe as advancing years sometimes take their toll. This program is called SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life). There are five sessions on Tuesdays, from l0 to 11 a.m. The first was Sept. 13. These are being held in conjunction with Whidbey General Hospital’s Fall Prevention Team. There is no charge and no reservations are necessary, although local planner Joyce Kuhn at 279-9801 would appreciate knowing who’s coming. All are welcome.
