Help turn wine into water

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is sponsoring “Wine  into Water,” a wine tasting event at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club, Friday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

How to plan life, whatever the state

St. Augustine’s-in-the-Woods in Freeland invites the Whidbey Island community to a Life Planning Seminar designed help people at all stages of life think about and prepare for how they want decisions made and their affairs handled if they are incapacitated or die.

The seminar will take place Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., including lunch (with a suggested donation of $5 for food), and will take place in the church’s beautiful new parish hall at 5217 Honeymoon Bay Road.

Those who wish to attend may make a reservation by calling the church office at 360-331-4887.

Among topics to be covered are: Advance medical directives, medical powers of attorney and living wills; access to hospice, home health care and other non-hospital care on Whidbey Island; funeral and burial planning; and how to gather, prepare and store your personal information (wills, important papers, specific instructions, etc.) so that they will readily available and up-to-date for those you designate if you are incapacitated or die.

The seminar will be include presentations by representatives of Whidbey General Hospital, a local attorney and others.
