Exploring China and the Bible

The Child Evangelism Fellowship will present five-day neighborhood clubs this summer for children ages 6 to 12. A qualified child Evangelism Fellowship teacher will present Bible stories, songs, games and crafts. This year will feature a southern China great panda theme. If you book a five-day camp, all you’re required to do is invite neighborhood kids to participate in your home or backyard, sit in on lessons and provide a snack. Call Gail Wieldraayer, teacher and club coordinator, at 675-2514. Volunteers are nationally screened.

Congregants  rant and rave

Soap Box Sunday will take place Sunday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20103 Highway 525, Freeland. For this annual tradition, five congregants will share a brief rant or rave about an issue of import and relevance. All are welcome. Children’s classes are not in session July and August, but child care will be available for children 3 and under. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi  for information.

Sunday sermons over the air

Sovereign  Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church Sunday morning sermons are being broadcast Monday nights starting at 7:05 p.m. on Oak Harbor radio station Great Talk AM 1110 KWDB.  Pastor Robert Van Kooten is currently preaching from the book of Psalms and worship service takes place Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Sovereign Grace OPC meets at the Seventh-day Adventist Church building located at 31830 SR 20.

The Kingdom of the Son

Whidbey Presbyterian hosts “Kingdom of the Son” Vacation Bible School, July 18 to 22, 9 a.m. to noon each day. Children ages 3 through grade school are welcome to attend. Register by calling the church at 679-3579.

Methodist church shakes it up

The Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church is presenting its Shake-It Up Cafe held Aug. 8 through 12, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children aged 3 years old to just out of fifth-grade. In this kid-friendly café full of chef’s hats and aprons, kids explore the Bible as a cookbook filled with recipes for living out God’s word.
