We would like to express our gratitude to the Island County Sheriff’s Office and North Whidbey Fire and Rescue, especially Chief Marv Koorn. On the night of the big wind an 80-foot tree came down across our driveway not only isolating us but also taking out our power (pump and water), telephone and Internet connection.
A sheriff’s deputy and Chief Koorn showed up to make sure that we were all right. Later in the day volunteers from NWF&R pulled in to make sure that the tree was removed and we could again get out. Chief Koorn took more of his time to loan us a small generator.
Being able to run our refrigerator, a couple of lamps and a B&W rabbit ear antenna TV went a long way to raising our spirits. It is very comforting to know that we have such caring and generous neighbors. Our thanks to all who were involved.
