A 34-year-old Oak Harbor woman killed in an airplane accident near Stanwood Feb. 16 was identified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner as Carri Enquist.

Enquist, known as a local marathon runner, was the passenger in an experimental aircraft flown by her aunt, 54-year-old Ann Price of Camano Island. Both women died at the scene of the accident after the plane lost power and crashed nose first in a field south of Stanwood city limits.

Price, who owned the experimental fixed-wing aircraft, had been talking to her husband shortly before the crash and had told him the plane was losing power or had lost power. Price and Enquist left nearby Arlington Airport and were headed for Camano Island where the pilot had a private airstrip on her property, according to a press release from the Snohomish Sheriff’s Office.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the accident.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner released Enquist’s identity Friday afternoon after rendering positive identification.
