The worst appears to be over for the state Department of Transportation, which experienced a cyber attack last week that affected multiple systems, including Washington State Ferries.
As of Saturday, all public-facing web applications and services were restored by staff, according to an announcement from the state department commonly known as WSDOT.
Outages affected traffic cameras – including ferry cameras – and a number of other services, from ferry vessel watch info to ferry schedules. The cyber attack began Nov. 7.
“These outages were caused by a cyber security incident that interrupted the flow of travel-related information on the agency’s public websites,” the WSDOT announcement stated. “There is no indication at this time that any other systems were affected, or any personal information was accessed. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and as such we cannot release many details.”
