The biggest breakfast of the year for Oak Harbor students has little to do with the bacon, eggs and coffee served. Oak Harbor Educational Foundation’s annual “Bud Skinner Breakfast for Education” will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Elks Lodge in Oak Harbor.

This early-morning fundraiser supports OHEF grants issued to Oak Harbor teachers to provide special hands-on learning opportunities for students.

These grants have funded field research about wetlands ecology, student interviews of Oak Harbor seniors with the results compiled and printed as a book, an elementary flag troupe, building robots and landscape/garden projects.

Last year, more than 800 students took part in OHEF funded hands-on learning projects. The breakfast will feature students showing posters and providing demonstrations of the grant-funded projects accomplished last year.

The cost of the breakfast is $25 per person. Donations of $500 will pay for an entire grant.  Tickets for the breakfast are available by calling Jones Accounting Associates at 675-3030 or e-mailing jaoffice@kjonesinc.com.
