Here's what's happening in the Whidbey arts scene.

You are invited to visit with award winning photographer KELLY KELLOGG from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31, at Penn Cove Gallery. Kelly uses a variety of camera formats and photographic techniques to obtain results ranging from realistic, impressionistic, and even surreal. His goal is to capture the essence of a scene as he sees it and share his image with others. After more than 20 years as a professional photographer, Kelly continues to study photography by learning new methods. He says utilizing different techniques keeps him creatively fresh.

Work from the OAK HARBOR HIGH SCHOOL ART DEPARTMENT will be on display at Oak Harbor City Hall during the months of January and February.

COAST-TO-COAST CHAMBER MUSIC will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island. A group of Seattle-based chamber musicians will perform a classical music program. For ticket reservations and information, email concerts@uucwi.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door or prior to the concert at Moonraker Books in Langley and Habitat for Humanity in Freeland. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $5 for students. Cash or check only.

Auditions for “Lost in Yonkers” will take place at 2 p.m., Jan. 31, at Whidbey Playhouse. Needed are two men, two teen boys, three women (one older woman) A semi-autobiographical play set in Yonkers 1942, Eddie deposits his two young sons on the old lady’s doorstep. The boys are left to contend with grandma and their mentally challenged aunt and her brother Louie in a strange new world.

Michele Kempees is PENN COVE GALLERY’s featured artist for February. You are invited to Penn Cove Gallery on Saturday, Feb. 6 to watch artist Michele Kempees demonstrate using the watercolor medium.
