The Melbourne Mystic, visiting from Australia, used a game-long full-court press to roll to an 80-38 win over the host Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team Tuesday, Jan. 5.
Leading 16-9 after one quarter, the Mystic took control with a 23-point second period to lead 39-22 at the half. Melbourne upped its lead to 61-32 after three quarters.
While the Mystic featured five players who scored in double figures, the Wildcats failed to produce one. Oak Harbor was led by the eight points of Janae Payne and Julie Jansen. Deja Bunch added six, Bryn Langrock five, Hannah Taylor four, Lexi Jones four and AnnaBelle Whitefoot three.
Oak Harbor (4-6) begins Wesco North play when it travels to Stanwood (6-3) at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8.
