Oak Harbor High School held its annual senior assembly Friday, during which eighteen awards were given to 24 different students before their peers.

The awards given to students were:

CTE Student of the Year: Jasmyn Maier and Gabriel Groenig

WIAA Cliff Gillies Student Award: Alexandra laiblin and John Rodeheffer

Athlete of the Year: Joanna Leete and Richard “Caley” Powers

Sweet Bling Award: Hope Drager

Hairy Potter Award: Jackie DeJesus

Kinda Sketchy Award: Caiti Woodward and Alex Rutter

All-Around English Department Award: Brittany Rogers

Mathematics Student of the Year Award: Rachel Margraf

Robotics Mentorship Award: Rachel Margraf and Jason Richards

Academic Award: Rachel Margraf, Gabriel Groenig and Kimberly Forster

National Honors Society Award: Alexandra Laiblin

Big Brothers Big Sisters Award: Shelby Bailey, Keiko Betcher and Julian Faralan, and juniors Jacalyn Hefflefinger, McKinley Kellogg, Cydnee Rollyson and Makenzi Schulle

Wendy’s High School Heisman Award: Alexandra Laiblin and Clayton Richardson

Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award: Alexandra Laiblin and Matthew Zafra

Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award: Gabriel Groenig

Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence: Kevin Silveira

U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award: Joanna Leete and Gabriel Groenig

Also recognized were Kerri Molitor, the Coach of the Year, retiring or resigning staff members and outgoing ASB officers.

The 2014 senior class of Oak Harbor High School saw $5.886 million in scholarships awarded to 69 students. Of that amount, $142,945 was awarded in local scholarships.

Military and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps awarded $2.106 million in scholarships, and $3.63 million was awarded in national or collegiate scholarships.
