A 25-year-old man is accused of severely beating a woman he met at a bar in Oak Harbor after she refused to go into an apartment with him, court documents indicate.

Prosecutors charged Premsak Komsangtong in Island County Superior Court July 23 with second-degree assault and fourth degree assault, domestic violence.

Judge Alan Hancock set Komsangtong’s bail at $100,000 July 22.

Detective Sgt. Teri Gardner with the Oak Harbor Police investigated the July 2 incident.

A 25-year-old Oak Harbor woman reported that she gave three people — her female friend, Komsangtong and another man — a ride to the Olympic Apartments in Oak Harbor from a downtown Oak Harbor club after it closed early in the morning of July 3.

The woman said that her friend and the man went into an apartment, but Komsangtong stayed in the car and tried to convince her to go into the apartment with him.

The woman said she refused and that Komsangtong attacked her, grabbing her by the jawline and hitting her in the face with his fist more than 10 times, Gardner wrote in her report about the incident.

The other woman came out of the apartment so see what was going on and stopped the assault by jumping on Komsangtong, hitting him and finally gouging his eyes, Gardner wrote. The alleged victim then drove away.

The police report states that the victim suffered two severely bruised eyes, a swollen lip and bruises on her neck and chest.

Oak Harbor police officers arrested Komsangtong at a downtown Oak Harbor bar on July 21.

Court documents list Komsangtong’s address of Everett, but the police report states he’s also been living in Oak Harbor and Federal Way.

If convicted of the charges against him, Komsangtong could face from three to nine months in jail under the standard sentencing range.
