Bellevue Christian defeated host Coupeville 13-4 in a softball nonleague game Monday, May 4, but the score is not a fair indicator of the game, according to coach Deanna Rafferty.

“Though the score does not reflect it,” Rafferty said, “it was an extremely good game.”

Bellevue Christian broke open a close game with a six-run fourth inning.

For Coupeville, the highlights included both the obvious and the subtle.

Katrina McGranahan provided much of the Wolves offense with four extra base hits — an inside-the-park home run and three doubles.

Hailey Hammer added two hits, including a double; and McKayla Bailey and Robin Cedillo had singles.

Jae LeVine dropped down two sacrifice bunts and Tiffany Briscoe another to help Coupeville execute its offensive attack.

Bailey and LeVine each made diving catches that stopped Viking rallies, and center fielder Hope Lodell twice raced to the fence to haul in long outs.

Right fielder Cedillo gunned down a BC runner at second base, where shortstop Bailey made a nice grab to complete the play.

Coupeville (4-3, 5-9) gets back into Olympic League action when it entertains Chimacum at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, on Senior Day.
