Oak Harbor High School freshman Haven Brown earned medalist honors but it wasn’t enough to lift the Wildcats to a win in a three-team meet at the Avalon Golf Course Thursday, March 24.

Stanwood posted the second through fourth best scores to win the match with 436 strokes. Oak Harbor finished with 479, and host Sedro-Woolley trailed with 507.

Brown shot a 76 to lead the field.

“Haven played really well on a difficult course and rainy and wet conditions,” coach David Smith said. “The whole team made improvements over last the last match in areas. So, overall, I was happy with the outcome.”

Oak Harbor’s Caleb Brookshier (91) and Nick Whitley (93) carded the fifth and sixth best scores in the meet.

Matthew Boyd (101), Joshua Margraf (118) and Rheeno Kwak (125) also competed for the Wildcats.

Oak Harbor will host a match with Meadowdale, Marysville Getchell and Mountlake Terrace at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the Whidbey Golf Club.
