No one was injured Thursday when an SUV crashed into a medical building on North Main Street across from Whidbey General Hospital.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., a 63-year-old Coupeville man was dropping off his 59-year-old wife at the building that houses Whidbey Orthopedic Surgeons, when his foot slid off the break and onto the accelerator, according to a news release from the Coupeville Town Marshal’s Office.
The vehicle lurched forward over six feet of landscaping and crashed into the exterior wall of the clinic. An exam room on the other side of the wall was unoccupied during the time of the crash, according to the news release.
Firefighters from Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue responded to the incident and they determined the collision didn’t make the rest of the building unsafe, according to the release.
