Winning all 11 events, the Oak Harbor High School swim team had an unexpectedly easy time in its 126-44 win over visiting Lake Stevens Monday, Oct. 1.

The Vikings, traditionally one of the Western Conference’s strongest programs, entered the meet with a 3-1 record.

Not only did Oak Harbor take every event, it finished 1-2 in eight.

Wildcat coach Amy Merkley was surprised by the dominance of her team and said, “I thought they (Lake Stevens) had more depth.”

Emily Huffer continued her stellar season with four firsts, including a state-qualifying time in the 100-meter freestyle (1:01.53).

She also swam on three winning relay teams: the 200 medley with Akasha Trisler, Lauren Vagt and Irysh Concepcion (2:13.65); the 200 free with Therese Desquitado, Marissa Morris and Vagt (1:59.88); and the 400 free with Concepcion, Trisler and Mollie Briddell (4:26.53).
