“Dr. John Raymond and his wife, Maggie, recently started Whidbey Island Chiropractic, located at 520 S.E. Pioneer Way. They are accepting new clients and will give a free spinal screening, which tests for abnormalities in muscle tone to check nerve interference.I believe the body is a self-healing organism, John Raymond said. My job is to remove any nerve interference to allow the body to function at its maximum capacity.Raymond offers a variety of chiropractic services including thermography, which tests for areas of nerve irritation, full-spinal X-rays and spine and extremity adjusting.I’ll clear the spine of any tensions first, Raymond said, then I can adjust things in the knees or wrists. He said he prefers to take a spinal X-ray first because to see is to know; not to see is to guess. He said he wants to make his practice family oriented, because with all the bumping around that children can do, he can find and correct little traumas in their spines.John Raymond served 14 years in the military as a medic for the special forces. He went to the University of Wisconsin for pre-med and received his chiropractic education at Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa.He said he and his wife love it here on the Island. It has a large community with small-town flavor, he said.Whidbey Island Chiropractic is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment.
