Here's what's happening at Whidbey places of worship.

How God feels about your job will be discussed at LIFETREE CAFE at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016. The program, titled “Taking God to Work: How to See the Spiritual Significance in What You Do,” features a filmed interview with Doug Sherman, co-author of “Your Work Matters to God.” During the interview, Sherman explores whether certain jobs allow people to connect with God more easily through their everyday work. “When we think of some jobs as being spiritual and some not, we are missing the fact that God cares about our physical needs, our emotional needs and our spiritual needs,” Sherman says. “While pastors may help us with our spiritual needs, the rest of us are focused on helping meet people’s emotional and physical needs with our work. God cares just as much about our physical needs as our spiritual needs.” Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Café, located at 540 SE Pioneer Way, is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting. Questions about Lifetree may be directed to Chrissie at 360-679-3431 or office@gracebythesea.org

Coffee Break BIBLE STUDY will start the new year with a 5-week study entitled “The God of Second Chances” based on the Old Testament book of Hosea.  Through this prophet’s experience, they’ll look at the amazing story of God’s love for an unfaithful and hard-to-love people. They’ll come to see that, no matter how imperfect our human relationships may be, there is a God who loves, accepts and forgives us. This study meets weekly 10-11:15 a.m. Thursday mornings at the Oak Harbor Christian Reformed Church, 1411 Wieldraayer Road (off Swantown Road), beginning Jan. 7. Coffee Break is a non-denominational small group Bible Study that is open to all women in the community, and no previous Bible knowledge is needed. To receive study material, call Launa at 360-675-4706, or call the church office at 675-2881 for more information.
