Editor,

Can someone tell me what has happened to Oak Harbor?

First, I want to start with a positive as we live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, but why are so many homes and apartment buildings run down?

Why is there so much garbage? Why are there so many stray and feral cats? Why don’t we have nicer restaurants? Why is city beach park so run down?

When I visit Coupeville or Langley, the buildings downtown are painted and well taken care of. It is sad that a lot of the population here goes off the island to eat and shop.

Until landlords start taking some pride in their properties and offer reasonable leases or rent we will continue to have mostly fast food and not many options to buy or rent and limited shopping.
