Oak Harbor is seeking public comment on two proposed zoning ordinance changes.
One proposal would allow horizontal mixed-use development in some commercial zones. Certain zones already allow vertical mixed-use development, which is residential and commercial spaces in the same building. Horizontal mixed-use development allows discrete commercial and residential buildings to exist on the same site. The change would allow horizontal mixed-use development in R-O, C-3 and C-5 zones.
The city is also proposing a new land use matrix to make zoning codes clearer.
