WSU Extension Climate Stewards are trained volunteers who study global climate change science and how it impacts local systems; what climate change means for each of us; and how individual changes in behavior potentially create large, positive impacts.

In exchange for 36 hours of professional training from university-level presenters, volunteers offer 36 hours of service according to their own schedules.

“With support, volunteers participate in meaningful community projects that promote sustainability, energy conservation and other strategies to reduce carbon emissions,” said Sarah Martin, Climate Stewards coordinator.

Anyone with time for training and volunteer service is invited to become a Climate Steward. Training will be held at Padilla Bay Reserve in Skagit County from 9 a.m. to 3:30 on Thursdays from Oct. 15 to Nov. 19. Carpools will be organized.
