“Supporters are already lining up behind their picks for Island County Commissioner. And they’re doing it with dollars.So far, more than $35,000 in cash and in-kind donations has been donated to the various campaigns according to the most current disclosure statements filed with the Island County Auditor through mid-June. Incumbent District 1 Commissioner Mike Shelton, who has yet to draw a challenger, is leading the pack in contributions with more than $15,000 collected. District 2 incumbent Mac McDowell and his Democratic rival Lynne Wilcox have raised about $10,000 apiece. Republican Marvin Koorn, who is challenging McDowell in the September primary, declared his candidacy less than a month ago, and shows contributions of $500.Many contributions are less than $100, with only a couple reaching into the $1,000 range.
