My first stop on the way to work this past Saturday morning was to pick up altar flowers for our church at the Antique Rose florist. After completing my business at the florist I returned to my car. It was dead.

Peggy Daugherty, of Antique Rose, allowed me the use of her business phone and stayed with me until I had assistance. She told me tales of vehicle breakdowns she had experienced, while trying to ease my concern over both my car and the prospect of an unneeded expense, and getting to work late.

At that time, another Antique Rose customer entered the store, asked if I was having car problems, and offered to help. This fine gentleman made a trip to his nearby business to get testing tools, returned, determined that I needed a new battery, jump started the car, had me follow him to his business where he put a new battery (“I had an extra one from a recent sale”) in my car and sent me on my way.

I opened the office five minutes late.

My grateful thanks to both Peggy for her emotional support, and the kind good samaritan who went out of his was to help a lady in distress, James Tilton of KWDB.
