An outstanding performance by Jerrin Concepcion led the way for the North Whidbey Aquatic Club at the Bellingham October Challenge at the Arne Hanna Swim Center Oct. 15 and 16.
Concepcion won every time he stepped on the blocks to take home the boys 9/10 high-point award. Along the way he set five new Pacific Northwest Swim records and teamed up with Bruce Vagt, Noah Schroeder and Lawrence Zapanta to win the 200 free and 200 medley relays.
Other Aquajet high-point winners were Zapanta, Kelly Huffer and Laura Rosen.
NWAC picked up other individual wins from Carlos Bishai, Emily Huffer, Jacob Jepsen, Kenneth Morrow, Schroeder, Jacob Thompson, Olivia Tungate, Cole Weinstein and Toren Wood.
Kelly Huffer, Tungate, Taliah Black and Erica Sugatan won the girls 11/12 200 free relay.
Emily Huffer set a NWAC record in the 200 backstroke (2:11.34).
Aquajets swimming 100 percent individual personal records were Bishai, Maria Bishai, Black, Cedric Cabigting, J.D. Cabigting, Carl Davis, Michael Johnson, Sugatan, Thompson, Andrew Vogt and Ashley Vogt.
One-hundred percent relay PRs were recorded by Carlos Bishai, Black, Cedric Cabigting, J.D. Cabigting, Concepcion, Josh Jepsen, Maya Krantz, Morrow, Autumn Robinson, Andrea Ruben, Maira Sulin, Thompson, Michael Uttmark, Bruce Vagt, Brett Vagt and Nicole Vogt.
New Silver cuts were earned by Carlos Bishai, Maria Bishai, Cedric Cabigting, J.D. Cabigting, Nicholas Davis, Angela Johnson, Frances Empinado, Tyler Marlo and Schroeder.
Angela Johnson, Krantz, Sugatan and Nicole Vogt earned Gold cuts.
New PNS cuts were clocked by Bon Bainco, Black, Concepcion, Jillian Pape, Tungate, Brett Vagt, Molly Vagt, Samantha Hines and Ella Schroeder.
Tungate also met a new age-group cut.
Wood (57.83) and Michael Johnson (58.75) joined the Minute Club (first time under 60 seconds in 100 free), while Weinstein (4:59.1) joined the Five-minute Club (first time under five minutes in 500 free).
NWAC next competes at the Bob Miller Sprint/Distance Challenge on Bainbridge Island Nov.5 and 6, where it will field a team of 22 athletes.
The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.
Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.
The first two weeks are free.
