The Whidbey Island Conservation District will hold its annual Board of Supervisors election from 2 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 8.
Elections will be held in the front room of the Whidbey Island Conservation District (1 NE Fourth Street, Coupeville) or request a mail-in ballot by contacting WICD at 678-4708 or email sandy@whidbeycd.org.
The WICD Board of Supervisors consists of five members, each serving a three year term without compensation. This year, there is one elected position, currently held by Wendi Hilborn, and one appointed position, currently held by Karen Krug, open on the WICD Board of Supervisors for a three-year term beginning in 2011.
Any registered voter in Island County residing on Whidbey Island who is a landowner or farm operator is eligible to run for the elected supervisor position and any registered voter in Island County residing on Whidbey Island is eligible for the appointed position.
To run for the upcoming elected position, individuals must file candidate information with the WICD by Jan. 11. To have their name printed on the ballot, the individual must submit a nominating petition signed by 25 or more Island County registered voters residing on Whidbey, postmarked by Jan. 11 and mailed to WICD at P.O. Box 490, Coupeville, WA 98239.
To be considered for the appointed position, candidates must submit an application to the Washington State Conservation Commission by March 31.
