I’m writing to encourage readers to consider Linda Riffe for Island County treasurer. I feel fortunate to back a qualified candidate who seeks this office for all the right reasons!
Ms. Riffe’s educational and business backgrounds are strengthened with statistical research and analysis, budget, and accounting. She possesses a master of computer technology and its integration/implementation. She has published business management curriculum and conducted workshops in computer training. Ms. Riffe also has first-hand experience in the corporate world, and with co-ownership of a business. She rounds out these qualifications with involvement in a variety of civic organizations from Cub Scout leader, church deacon, and foster parent, to Soroptimist International committee work.
She was voted Educational Leader of the Year, and Business Educator of the Year for 1994, and was honored with the Exemplary Business Education Award by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction in 1991.
Deciding to run for treasurer was not a hasty, last-minute decision. Ms. Riffe began many months ago to prepare thoroughly by examining state audit reports for the past several years, and interviewing successful treasurers in other districts. She has done her homework.
Her skills in the above-mentioned areas will turn the situation around in the Treasurer’s Office. She will save taxpayers’ money through her technological acumen, problem-solving expertise, and her ability to listen and work with various agencies. There has been an alarming turnover of personnel under the incumbent. My personal experience “on the job” with Ms. Riffe as an administrator, has proved her to be a compassionate team-builder — no one member more valuable than the rest.
A vote for Linda Riffe will be a vote for the most competent candidate. Please find out more about Ms. Riffe on her website: http://electlindariffe.com
