The county will include additional funding for the sheriff’s deputies’ union contract in the 2015 budget’s first amendment.
A public hearing is set for 6:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, in the Commissioners Hearing Room in Coupeville.
The $770,000 budget addition will be paid for by money set aside for the negotiations, including $312,779 from the 2014 budget and $456,221 from previous years.
While the deputies’ guild agreement comprises the largest chunk of the amendment, the change also includes the addition of a $72,000 federal grant that will pay for the county’s 2015 marine resources committee.
Other changed items in the budget amendment are otherwise small, line-item changes where “unused budget capacity” is being moved to fund other services, according to Budget Director Elaine Marlow.
