Coming off a close win over Chimacum, the Coupeville High School tennis team had an easier time of it at Friday Harbor Monday, April 18, defeating the Wolverines 5-0 in a non-league match.
Valen Trujillo and Sydney Autio dominated singles play; each won 8-0.
In first doubles, Payton Aparicio and Sage Renninger won 8-1.
McKenzie Bailey and Jazmine Franklin were 8-3 winners in second doubles.
Bree Daigneault and Maggie Crimmins completed the sweep with an 8-5 win in third doubles.
The Wolves (1-0, 3-3) head to Klahowya at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.
In addition to the regularly scheduled match at Klahowya, Coupeville, specifically Trujillo, will need to complete a contest suspended when the two schools met March 24.
Coupeville and Klahowya were tied 3-3 and Trujillo was still playing the first singles match when the Wolves had to leave to catch the final ferry. Trujillo and her opponent split the first two sets and were tied 5-5 when the match was halted.
The Wolves will face a similar situation when they go to Granite Falls at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 21. When the schools first met March 14, the match was stopped because of rain with Coupeville leading 3-1. The two teams will complete the suspended match before facing off in a complete match Friday.
