The Coupeville High School volleyball team clinched the Olympic League title with a 3-0 win at Port Townsend Thursday, Oct. 20.

The win guaranteed the Wolves will play in the double-elimination portion of the district tournament, which they host Nov. 5.

“It was good to pull out the win tonight on the road, playing everyone,” first-year coach Cory Whitmore said.

“The girls have worked hard to be in the position to be league champions; to accomplish and clinch first place is a result of that hard work and a goal met.”

The Wolves’ last conference title came in 2004.

Coupeville topped the Redhawks (0-6, 2-10) 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.

The offense was led by Hope Lodell (five kills), Sarah Wright (four kills), Ashley Menges (11 assists, five aces) and Lauren Rose (eight assists, four aces).

Defensively, Valen Trujillo had 17 digs and Lodell five.

Coupeville’s next goal is to finish the conference season unbeaten; the Wolves (6-0, 9-3) have three matches remaining, beginning with Chimacum (3-3, 6-7) for Senior Night at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25.
