Spurred by a 19-point second quarter, the Coupeville High School girls basketball team won 45-34 at Port Townsend Tuesday, Jan. 5.

The two teams entered the game with 1-0 Olympic League records; now Coupeville is the only undefeated conference team.

The Wolves survived as leading scorer Makana Stone sat much of the game in foul trouble.

Mia Littlejohn, who finished with a team-high 15 points, “stepped up” to fill the void, according to coach David King. Kailey Kellner also hit some big hoops, King added.

Stone collected 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in limited action.

Port Townsend led 9-7 after one quarter, then the Wolves exploded in the second period to lead 26-15 at halftime.

Coupeville led 32-22 after three periods.

Kellner finished with nine points, three steals and two blocks.

Littlejohn had three assists to go along with her 15 points.

Lindsey Roberts scored five points and Tiffany Briscoe four; both grabbed seven rebounds.

Coupeville (2-0, 7-2) plays two non-league games this week. First, it travels to Sequim (3-5) at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, and then hosts Mount Vernon Christian (4-4) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9.
