I read the letter from Mr. Brand indicating Commissioner McDowell used county resources for his own end. Whether true or not (as a McDowell supporter I find it hard to believe), the letter raises an issue concerning McDowell’s behavior, and for that matter, all commissioners: that of honesty.
May I suggest that, to alleviate any scandal or scenario of that type, especially with an election looming, the commissioners subject themselves to a federal “Brain Wave Fingerprint” (what it is commonly called) conducted by an FBI sanctioned testing company. This is a method now used, for example, in capital crimes to determine if a person is lying.
I believe our commissioners to be honest and forthright individuals. This test should be a no-brainer for each of them. The questions will be straight forward and simple, such as:
“Did you ever provide favors in return for future support as Island County commissioner?”
“Did you ever abuse your power as Island County commissioner?”
“Did you ever lie or twist the truth as Island County commissioner?”
“Did you ever provide favors in return for future support while in the employ of Island County?”
To solve the argument of how to pay for this test, I will be happy to do so. This should put these naysayers to rest.
Shall we get on with it gentlemen?
