The Coupeville School District received 13 applications for its soon-to-be-vacant superintendent position.
The application period for the position closed April 30 and the school board needs to identify the finalists to interview later this month.
Of those who applied, seven have previous experience working as a superintendent, while four have experience as a principal. Four of the candidates have doctorates while all 13 have master’s degrees.
Seven applicants live in Washington. The school district also received applications from people in Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Nevada, Oregon and Texas.
The school board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in executive session at the elementary school conference room to consider the applications.
Current Superintendent Patty Page announced her resignation so she can take a position with the North Kitsap School District.
Finalists will make day-long visits from May 14 through 17 depending on the number chosen.
A public forum will take place during each visit at 6:30 p.m. in the Coupeville High School Commons.
The school board will meet in executive session Monday, May 21 to review the finalists’ qualifications and then, during public session, identify the person who will be offered the position. The board will formally approve the new superintendent during its meeting May 29.
