Chimacum scored all of the game’s runs in the first inning to hand the visiting Coupeville High School baseball team its first conference loss of the spring, 3-0, Monday, May 2.
“Played well but couldn’t get the bats working,” Coupeville coach Marc Aparicio said.
The Wolves (7-1, 10-9) finish the regular season at home with Klahowya (6-2, 15-4) at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4. If the Eagles win, they will tie Coupeville for the Olympic League championship; however, the Wolves will get the No. 1 seed into the playoffs because they beat Klahowya twice earlier this season.
Chimacum (3-5, 6-10) used two hits and two errors to score three runs in the first inning.
The Wolves had runners on in five of the seven innings but couldn’t get the timely hit.
