Dog teams searched the trails at Deception Pass Tuesday for a missing Microsoft employee, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Detective Ed Wallace said a car belonging to Krishna Venkatesh, a 27-year-old Seattle resident, was found parked at Deception Pass Bridge.

Venkatesh is a Microsoft Windows program manager. He was reportedly last seen on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Microsoft campus in Redmond.

He lives in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, according to a GeekWire article.

According to Wallace, rangers at Deception Pass believe Venkatesh’s gray Toyota Corolla had been parked in the lot since last Wednesday or Thursday.

Deputies became involved in the case on Monday night.

The car was “clean,” Wallace said. It was locked and nothing unusual was found inside.

Wallace said the Seattle Police Department is handling the missing person case, so he didn’t have much information about the disappearance.

Searchers haven’t ruled out the possibility that Venkatesh may have jumped from the bridge, which is the site of several suicides each year.

Wallace said the bodies of people who jumped from the bridge without witnesses aren’t usually found because of the swift tidal action in the area.
