Less than three months and counting before the Oak Harbor High School football team takes to the turf at Wildcat Memorial Stadium for the start of the 2009 campaign and already head coach Jay Turner and his staff are making preparations.
Last week’s mini camp was a successful one with a large turnout of enthusiastic players eager to don the game uniforms and commence knocking heads once again.
This season the Wildcats will have a few surprises in store for their WesCo North and non-league opponents, including a new-look type of offense that had its trial run in the final game of the 2008 season against Kamiak.
The team is in the process of tweaking the offensive sets a little to make the best use of the talented personnel on the Wildcat roster and so far, things have looked sharp.
The defensive side of the ball has always been one of Oak Harbor’s strong suits, so look for another banner year keeping the opposition from putting points on the board once the regular season begins in September.
Go Wildcats!
