I cannot believe Dr. Schulte is upset about the “dropout factory.” I, in fact, have three children who are dropouts and two more that only graduated from Oak Harbor High School by a prayer and the outreach program.
Yes, I take some responsibility for getting them to school and making sure homework is done but in the very beginning I was told this is a Navy town and kids come and go and we cannot help them all.
I do not have the time or space to tell all about the whys of my children but I will tell you this: I am proud of each one of them because in spite of the lack of an Oak Harbor education they have gone on and are wonderful adults who live and work all over these United States.
I have just left Oak Harbor and moved to where I hope my fourth-grade daughter will get a much better education. With all your cutbacks it can only get worse.
